It is with deep regret that I send this communication to you; I am no longer the director of Lake House Academy for Girls. My dismissal from my duties happened on July 26th, the delay in sending this news to you is due to, right or wrong, the desire to preserve the graduation for 6 young ladies who have worked so hard. Four of them went through the closure of New Leaf Academy of North Carolina, and I could not put the girls or their families, who are responsible for helping start LHA, through another trauma so close to the culmination of their hard work.
I am a minority partner. The majority partner has fired me and is now running the school. It is my responsibility to those of you who have supported the development of LHA, which I'm struggling with the most.
I am no longer in a position to ensure the safety, treatment, and wellbeing of the students of LHA, nor am I in a position to choose, supervise, or support the staff who are caring for them.
The staff of LHA are lovely, caring people who believe in the school and the girls.
In light of this, I feel it is my duty to inform you of these important changes.
I will be calling each of you personally to answer any questions you have and you are welcome to call me. I have included my contacts and will return any calls or emails as quickly as I can.
I want to thank you all for the amazing support you have shown me and our school over this past year, it was immensely gratifying.
