Claude Bisson was honored with the award of Human Rights Educator of the year at the 6th annual Change Your World Celebration on September 25th at the Linen Building in Boise, Idaho. Mr. Bisson leads the Social Science department and coordinates Special Education services at Boulder Creek Academy in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
The Idaho Human Rights Education Center bestows the award to an Idaho educator who exemplifies a consistent commitment to human rights principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Mr. Bisson enthusiastically promotes respect for human dignity and diversity through education and fosters individual responsibility to work for justice and peace.
Bisson actively participated in the center's ongoing trainings and intensive one-week summer institutes in human rights education that promoted creating a culture and climate of human rights in Idaho schools. Mr. Bisson was one of eleven Idaho educators recently chosen to participate in a two-week educational human rights mission to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The mission was co-sponsored by the Jordanian Center for Civic Education in Amman.
