The month of December has brought many good things to Auldern Academy. First, we were visited by Jim Williams and Allan Blau of NIPSA and have received full accreditation for both the academics and therapeutic offerings. Mr. Blau and Mr. Williams were pleased with the many good changes implemented at Auldern since their last visit. Both took the time to speak with the student body, stating that "Auldern is a safe school." They want to encourage the girls to thank their parents for sending them to Auldern.
Then, on December 13, we held a graduation for six girls. Dressed in their holiday finest, carrying bouquets of white rose, the girls marched into the ceremony as "Canon in D" played in the background. The accolades that were given by faculty brought tears to the eyes of parents and students alike. Following the awarding of diplomas, the graduates left the ceremony to "Carolina on My Mind", and then released blue, yellow and white balloons to represent their new lives.
One parent stated that she hadn't fully known what a warm and nurturing environment Auldern was until she attended the dinner and graduation. Her daughter later stated, "Coming to Auldern was the best decision I've ever made."
We are excited about the New Year and the many new students who plan to join us. For more information on space availability, please contact Jane Samuel or Joyce Latimer.
