Aspiro is proud to announce the opening of Vantage Point by Aspiro, a specialized outdoor adventure program for students with learning difficulties. Our program serves students with ADHD, verbal and nonverbal learning problems and problems in the mild to moderate range of the pervasive developmental disorder "spectrum." Vantage Point by Aspiro has a very strong clinical focus on assessment and specific skills training. A multidisciplinary approach to assessment and treatment is essential for improving the level of function in students with learning problems. Adolescents who struggle with impulsivity, immaturity, executive function, language and social skills deficits are our specialty. Vantage Point by Aspiro will be admitting students as of May 1, 2008.

Accurate diagnosis is crucial to creating appropriate strategies for intervention. Our multidisciplinary approach utilizes the rich experiential treatment and assessment opportunities in the outdoors. We strive to understand the child from every aspect. Our assessment and treatment team includes professionals from psychology, psychiatry, speech and language, occupational therapy and others. Each student benefits from integrated assessment that produces results and recommendations for further assistance.

Adolescents who struggle with learning and cognitive issues or developmental disorders are often difficult to serve in traditional outdoor programs. They often have poor self-regulation and self-monitoring. An "insight oriented" approach is often not specific enough to improve coping skills. Vantage Point by Aspiro is a base camp oriented, outdoor adventure experience with an emphasis on safety, flexibility in programming, multidisciplinary assessment and specific skills training. Intensive instruction and practice in social and communication skills and in emotional and behavioral regulation occurs on a daily basis.

If you serve students who struggle with impulsivity, immaturity, executive function deficits, language problems, cognitive rigidity, anxiety, emotional problems or social problems often associated with learning difficulties, Vantage Point by Aspiro is here to serve you and your families! You can contact Vantage Point by Aspiro at 801-649-4488. Dr. Gordon Day, Program Director may be reached directly at 801-897-3957 or by email at gday@aspiroadventure.com.
