Beginning October 21st Pure Life will move to a rolling admissions schedule for young adults 18-28 years old. Beginning January 1st, Pure Life will also be accepting adolescent boys ages 15-18 utilizing a rolling admissions, open group model.

In addition, we are excited to announce that Dr. Gordon Day will be the primary therapist for the Costa Rica program. After the August 2013 Pure Life Aspiro expedition he said, "The ability for us to utilize the vast cultural, adventure and community service opportunities in Costa Rica enables our team to provide very rich, unique and life changing experiences for our clients. The work we have done with Pure Life this year has been very impactful for our students and, on a personal level, very meaningful to me." Gordon's many years of experience in and his passion for adventure therapy, along with his clinical expertise will help provide a meaningful and transformational experience for our students.

The Pure Life program is very specifically tailored for adolescents and young adults that need assistance with the following areas:
  • Social Skills
  • Executive Function
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Identity Development
  • Low self-efficacy and motivation
  • Transitional support

Pure Life Aspiro is a short-term, 45 to 90 day transitional adventure therapy program offering adolescents and young adults the ability to develop practical, usable skills that transfer back into the different areas of everyday life. Multiple certifications, such as Swift Water Rescue, Wilderness First Aid/CPR, and Technical High Rope Rescue will be offered as an integral part of the program. The integrated treatment approach consists of a combination of family systems therapy, individual/group therapy, motivational interviewing, exposure therapy, adventure therapy and experiential education. The Pure Life experience will also feature formal and informal assessments of life and occupational interests as well as career exploration. Each group is limited to 8 participants offering a 1: 3 staff to client ratio, ensuring a significant amount of supervision, support and instruction.

The adventure and exposure therapy components utilized in the program are:
  • Community Service
  • Backpacking and horseback riding through the lush rainforest
  • Whitewater rafting and Whitewater Guiding Skills
  • Whitewater Kayaking
  • Waterfall rappelling
  • Technical tree climbs
  • Surfing
  • Cultural Homestays

The Pure Life Aspiro team looks forward to our ongoing collaborated work with consultants and families as we integrate these new program developments in the month of October.
