| From Strugglingteens.com Visit Reports “Semester Back Program” From Pittsburgh, PA it is a beautiful 2-hour drive south into Davis, West Virginia, passing through Maryland then into West Virginia in the Appalachian Mountains. Be sure to stop on the roadside and pick up a large piece of coal for a souvenir to bring home. Davis, West Virginia, is a small town with a beautiful attraction known as the Black Water Falls. There you will find a rustic Hotel which has very nice facilities and is only 3 minutes from the Alldrege Academy. This has been where parents would stay if visiting the school. Alldredge was started in the spring of ’99 by L.J. Mitchell, J.D. He is an innovator in the area of adolescent therapeutic wilderness programs. He was also the founder and former director of the SUWS Program in Idaho. Mr. Mitchell continues to refine his powerful interventions to induce deep level changes in the heart of individuals. He works directly with the students and he trains the 20+ staff. The incoming student would meet at Clarksburg, WV airport where they will be outfitted for the wilderness component of the 3-phase program of personal growth and academics. Lance Wells, Vice President, met me and showed me around. Offices are offices but the people there were all very kind and helpful and have been calling me often telling me how the students are doing that I have sent to the Academy. Several parents have called me as their child has come to a finish at Alldredge and they all agree that Jay Mitchell has gotten their child back on track. With joyful, tearful eyes the mothers told of how they have their child back and they can again communicate with each other. At Alldredge the kids are able to work through their current problems of anger, defiance, deceitfulness, and depression. Also with the academic component the kids are able to find academy success and catch up on missed schoolwork. © Copyright 2012 by Woodbury Reports, Inc. |
