Trails Carolina is pleased to welcome Jon Stang, LCSW to the Academy. Jon is excited to jump in, meet the boys and integrate his clinical expertise in outdoor adventure and leadership to further enhance programming at the Academy.

We are excited that Jon brings the following to the Academy:

  • A decade of experience as a clinician in wilderness therapy and private practice employing therapeutic recreation

  • Experience participating in the start up of successful programs

  • Over 20 years experience in outdoor leadership leading expeditions in a multitude of settings, from Alaska to the Appalachians and everything in between

  • Initiating ground breaking programs to explore alternatives to violence in urban high schools

  • A fundamental belief in the inherent goodness of people

  • An excitement to be involved in creating the kind of place he would have wanted to be as a teenager

In Jon's words, "In addition to working with the boys as their therapist, I am interested in creating an integrated model that recognizes each student as himself, not as his diagnosis or his differences." Jon was also drawn to the family piece at the Academy, recognizing the specific goals for each family's system and the well-laid foundation for future successes established through participation in monthly family weekends.

Jon is looking forward to sharing more about the Academy and would welcome you for a visit.

You can reach Jon via email at jstang@trailsacademy.com, or by calling the Academy directly at 828-393-6322.

The Academy at Trails Carolina is a post-wilderness, therapeutic boarding school for young men in high school. The Academy continues the therapeutic process while focusing on integration of family work, academic recovery, self-realization and forward momentum.
