Robert Theisen, Ph.D., has been promoted to executive director of Adirondack Leadership Expeditions in Upstate New York. Adirondack Leadership Expeditions, a member of Aspen Education Group, is a therapeutic wilderness program for troubled teens ages 13-17 that promotes personal growth through insight-oriented experiences. Theisen previously served as the program's clinical director responsible for managing students' clinical care, maximizing parent involvement and developing positive relationships with staff, referring professionals and the community.

"Robert is much deserved of this promotion to executive director of Adirondack," said Sue Crowell, senior vice president for outdoor education programs at Aspen Education Group. "Along with his extensive clinical experience, he has shown a tremendous aptitude for establishing connections with families and teens, as well as with the staff of the program. His leadership will be a great asset as Adirondack continues to excel at helping families in need."

Theisen has spent 25 years working with families, adults and adolescents in various capacities. Prior to joining Adirondack last year, his experience included work in consulting and private practice, as well as at a residential treatment center (RTC) and rehabilitation facility. In these positions, Theisen assessed and treated a broad range of clinical problems ranging from relatively mild adjustment reactions to psychotic disorders. His cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach focuses on family systems, contemporary issues for today's youth and learning disabilities. Theisen has a subspecialty in neuropsychology, and is a court admitted expert witness in the State of Vermont.

"I look forward to establishing Adirondack as the premier wilderness therapy program in the Northeast," said Theisen. "With an outstanding current team of professionals and our high level of customer service and quality clinical care, we have the tools to succeed."

Adirondack Leadership Expeditions is set in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains near Saranac Lake, New York.
