Visions Adolescent Treatment Program is “specifically designed” to serve male and female students ages 13-17 with substance abuse problems and related psychological and behavioral problems.
At Visions, the goal is to “create an experience of healing and recovery for families who understand and want a higher caliber of treatment,” and to offer a treatment plan tailored to the specific needs of each individual. While their primary focus is to achieve sobriety, the plan delves into other issues like mental health, behavioral problems, eating disorders, cross-addictions, low self-esteem, anger management and family dysfunction.
The Treatment Team consists of a psychiatrist specializing in adolescent medicine, masters level therapists, certified counselors, psychologists and recovering staff members. The Treatment Program requires a 45-day commitment and includes individual, group and specialized group therapy sessions in 12-step recovery principals, anger management, relapse prevention, sexuality, goal setting and drug and alcohol education.
Each resident is assessed by a series of tests to evaluate medical, psychiatric, academic, emotional and family problems. Students attend school three hours a day, five days a week.
In the mandatory Family Program, “all family members are expected to participate in short-term structural family therapy to strengthen parental leadership, clarify boundaries, enhance coping skills and free family members from their established positions.”
