Like a native son, Northwest Academy has returned to its home in the mountains.

Located in beautiful North Idaho, the residential high school that offers a 12-month program for 16 ½ to 18-year-old students has moved back to the plateau in the picturesque Selkirk Mountains where it began 14 years ago.

A gala ribbon-cutting ceremony for NWA's move will take place March 12 at its new, 119-acre campus. All of the school's 20 students and staff will participate in the festive, day-long event.

Accredited by Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, NWA offers:

  • Comprehensive classes designed for students to earn two years of high school credits in one calendar year.

  • A customized counseling plan and hands-on learning experiences enabling teenagers to catch-up academically and address the issues that have caused them to fall behind.

  • A team of teachers, counselors and clinicians to help develop a child's motivation, confidence and self-esteem as well as assuming the responsibilities of a young adult capable of living independently.

"We couldn't be more thrilled with the move," said NWA's Executive Director John Schrom. "Our 'new' campus provides us with a smaller environment and a greater opportunity to build a strong sense of unity and cohesion with our student population. We see this as an ideal fit for what Northwest Academy is striving to achieve."
