Telos Academy, the educational arm of Telos Residential Treatment Center (RTC), opened its doors Tuesday, January 16, 2007.

"Telos Academy's mission is to guide students in a process of positive, intellectual growth toward academic competency," said Kristin Williams, co-director of Telos Academy. "We strive to develop healthy attitudes that are supportive of lifelong learning and productive citizenship."

A private school built to service Telos RTC, Telos Academy has aligned its syllabus and standards with the State of Utah curriculum. Educational standards across the nation are similar to Telos Academy's curriculum; therefore, students may expect the program to be similar to his/her home curriculum.

Telos Academy's curriculum offers a balance between skills and critical thinking. Its teachers help students learn specified standards at each grade level.

"We hold high standards and have a strong standards-based curriculum that will prepare our students for life, work, higher education and citizenship," said Patrick Bagley, Telos Academy's co-director. "We hire and maintain teachers and administrators who are committed to excellence, individual student achievement, continuous professional development, and a willingness to be held accountable."

In addition to being the educational arm of Telos RTC, Telos Academy offers its services to other residential treatment centers that may be in need of educational services.
