Altesah Hatcher is the new Volunteer and Career Coordinator at OPI, helping residents volunteer at a variety of organizations in the Los Angeles area.

Altesah also is organizing monthly volunteer opportunities that the entire OPI milieu participates in. Our first outing took place in November at Los Angeles' Midnight Mission. The Midnight Mission is a homeless shelter that offers an extensive drug recovery program for men. It's been in existence since 1914. This month, OPI Participants and Staff will wrap Holiday presents for underprivileged children at the Boys and Girls Club.

Altesah was born and raised in Newark, NJ. She earned a BA degree in Social Work from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, and an MFA degree from the New School University in New York with a concentration in Acting. She has worked with youth of all ages and backgrounds as a drama instructor, job trainer, and facilitator of life.

Altesah said, "I absolutely love bringing people together for a common goal which is what this OPI position allows me to do through the arrangement of monthly group volunteer outings."

The Optimum Performance Institute is a highly individualized therapeutic and educational residential program for young adults ages 17-25. For further information contact Anne LaRiviere, Director of Admissions, at 888-558-0617.
