To meet an increasing demand from families of troubled teens all over the country, Shane Peterson, Director of Administration, has announced that Life-Line is opening a new 32-bed Family Living Center in December. Since 1990, Life-Line has provided the necessary intervention and professional family therapy to help thousands of families, primarily in the Salt Lake area.
The hallmark of the Life-Line program is its home-based residential model, where new students dealing with addictive and other destructive behaviors live with host families of other students who are further along in the program. While the educational and therapeutic components of the program will remain the same for all students, the living arrangements for the new students will be different.
Intended to be much more than a dorm, the Family Living Center incorporates a kitchen, dining room and living area for students as well as bedrooms for visiting parents. When families come to visit, by staying on campus their visit will have the flavor of the host-home experience. Life-Line also plans hope to offer students living in the new building the opportunity to stay an occasional night or two with local host families.
