The Accreditation Council of the Association for Experiential Education (AEE) has granted initial accreditation to Three Springs, Inc., at it's meeting on November 1, 2006. Accreditation will be valid for a period of three years.

Founded in 1985, Three Springs, Inc. is a nationally recognized residential treatment program for male and female adolescents ages 12-18 years of age. It operates year round on over 20 campuses in 10 states. The scope of this accreditation encompasses 13 sites within the Three Springs program system. The outdoor therapy and experiential education programs include activities, such as, camping, hiking, artificial climbing walls, cycling, horseback riding, and canoeing into its therapeutic approach.

The Association for Experiential Education (AEE) is a 501(c)(03) professional membership association incorporated in the State of Colorado. The mission of the AEE is to develop and promote experiential education. The Association is committed to support professional development, theoretical advancement, and evaluation of experiential education worldwide.

The association sponsors accreditation for adventure and outdoor education organizations and programs. The accreditation process is a voluntary program of self-regulation that culminates in an external review and evaluation of participating organizations by outside experts. AEE accreditation reviewers evaluate organizations against a set of hundreds of published standards intended to address issues of quality and safety in outdoor education programs. Benefits of accreditation include improved program quality and performance, increased visibility, and tangible evidence and confirmation that the organization is operating according to acceptable standards.
