Since our island has been in the news already this weekend, we thought we would take this opportunity to share some recent Pacific Quest news and an update.

First, we are all fine and did not sustain any damage or injury at all from Sunday's earthquake. We all felt the long (20 seconds) shake and roll, and some of us felt aftershocks. Mostly, it was just an exciting way to wake up on a Sunday morning! Assuredly, out first priority is safety and we have comprehensive measures in place to address emergencies if they should occur.

We hope you all know that Hilary Moses has been with Pacific Quest for six months as our Counseling Director. Hilary is an LCSW with over eight years of experience working with adolescents and families in many different settings. She earned her MSW from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research in Pennsylvania. She spent four years working for the SUWS Adolescent and Youth Programs, initially as a Field Instructor, then as a Therapist and then as the Clinical Director. Hilary brings experience and integrity and her ability to relate with students and parents is outstanding.

PQ welcomes Hannah Price in a new position of Field Supervisor. Hannah Price comes to us from The Academy at Swift River where she worked for four years as a wilderness instructor and team leader. Hannah ensures quality control in the field, provides staff training and oversees medical and safety issues.

We also want to welcome John Moore as our new Logistics Coordinator. John is also assisting in the construction of several new structures on the property, including individual student sites, a new kitchen and an additional bunkhouse.

We are excited to announce that we have just broken ground on a second portion of our land which will become a new addition to our program. In the next six months, we will be expanding enrollment as well as adding to our curriculum and enhancing the phases of Pacific Quest. Please look out for future announcements about the program enrichment.

Finally, we are hoping to see some of you at the IECA conference in a few weeks. Pacific Quest will be hosting a dessert reception on Friday evening, 9:00pm in the Triton Room at the Loews Hotel. Please join us for chocolate treats and drinks. We hope to see you there!
