Founded in 1922, Bridges is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to help youth, ages 12-24, build positive relationships, find their voice and experience their power. Bridges offers several different day programs for youth and young adults.
In Team BRIDGES, the students participate on the climbing wall and high and low rope courses. They also learn the skills and language necessary for them take responsibility for their actions, face challenges and work collectively towards common goals.
Future Builders is designed help middle school students develop positive, self-reflective experiences in a multi-cultural setting. Bridge Builders® is a two-year leadership and diversity program that is designed to help high school students develop a group of future leaders. This day program accepts home schooled students as well as students from all public, private and parochial high schools in the Memphis area. The goal is to teach the students to put aside individual, social, economic and cultural differences in order to benefit everyone.
BRIDGES-PeaceJam is an international education program for high school students living in Memphis and throughout the Mid-South. Nobel Peace Prize Laureates work personally with the youth to inspire a new generation of peacemakers in the hopes of transforming these youth and their communities.
For youth who have dropped out of high school, Bridges offers a Life Skills Program that helps them get involved in an existing GED program or Messick Adult Education Program. This program offers youth a chance to develop abilities and interests, realize their potential and prepare for a career. The Life Skills Program also provides life skills, parenting and career development workshops.
