Utah Boys Ranch is a non-profit, non-denominational program for boys ages 8-18, who are heading towards addiction, but are not actually chemically dependent. Many of the boys also have severe reading deficits.

Boys stay at the ranch for approximately nine months. While in the program, they participate in individual, group and family therapy. Each student is assigned a therapist upon entry, to help him get back on track and reinvest in his family. The therapist works with the youth, tracks his progress, coordinates with his family, and helps the youth deal with his issues. In addition, certified addictions counselors facilitate weekly drug and alcohol groups, and offer a modified 12-step program.

Utah Boys Ranch offers a literacy program to assist boys with any reading deficits and boost academic performance. Pre-testing and post-testing provide monthly updates to the therapists to aid in building the youth's self-esteem and confidence.

Boys participate in a variety of recreational components such as baseball, basketball, soccer, cross country and golf, and are encouraged to cultivate their religious roots by pursuing spiritual ideals and values. Seminary and bible study are considered important components of a young man's success.

Other components include a high levels ropes course, a rock climbing wall, music therapy, and parent seminars, which occur quarterly and typically last a full day.
