Boys & Girls Town of Missouri has opened a long term therapeutic residential care program, Woodland Spring Lodge, which provides therapeutic long term residential care for children ages 8 to 17 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems such as depression, substance abuse, impulsivity, grief, anxiety and trauma issues.
Woodland Spring Lodge is a private not-for-profit organization structured under the laws of the State of Missouri and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a behavioral health residential program for children and adolescents. The on-site school is fully accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary education.
All children receive an in-depth evaluation involving the child and family members. A treatment plan is comprised of individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, psychiatric services, academics and outdoor education activities.
Recreational facilities include a gymnasium, outdoor pool and indoor riding arena. The 1,200 acre Meramec Wilderness Learning Ranch located 20 miles from campus offers therapeutic learning opportunities through backpacking trips and adventure activities such as climbing, rappelling, wilderness survival trips, low and high ropes courses and camping.
The treatment program helps children learn to trust and sustain meaningful relationships which enable them to reconnect with their families.
