WinGate Wilderness Therapy is pleased to announce the opening of a Young Adult Group within the framework of its ground breaking wilderness treatment program. Participants between the ages of 18 and 25 now have the opportunity to benefit from WinGate's unique model and philosophy of change.
Shayne Gallagher, Executive Director at WinGate stated, "We believe the WinGate way is ideally suited for young adults," and added, "Because our model encourages and produces 'buy in' from participants and their families, we see young adults making great changes during a typical stay with us."
Wingate's young adult program will focus on core clinical issues and emotional challenges. The therapeutic strength of WinGate staff as well as core beliefs in assessment, the family as part of the solution, clinical interventions, and transition, will move young adults into a space where they are motivated to make life altering decisions - putting themselves on a pathway to success. Specific to the young adult group, WinGate focuses on:
- Assessing and understanding the core issues of each participant.
- Inviting and encouraging participants to face the emotional challenges in their life.
- Intervening on specific struggles such as substance abuse, depression, family conflict, etc.
- Teaching the life skills necessary for lasting change
- Preparing for transition, whether home or on to a residential facility.
Scott Hess, Clinical Director at WinGate says, "Our clinical sophistication and commitment to the success of the family has really set us apart from other wilderness programs, and we are excited to expand these services to an older population. Having worked with this demographic, I see an incredible match."
