Congratulations to Alan E. Fruzzetti, Ph.D. for receiving the 2013 International Society for the Improvement and Teaching of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (ISITDBT) Outstanding Research Award in honor of his outstanding contributions to the field of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

The award recognizes the huge impact on DBT training and treatment development of Fruzzetti's groundbreaking research on validation and couples therapy as well as his collaborations on DBT for college students.

"We feel that Alan is a supremely deserving recipient of the award and we appreciate his many contributions to the DBT community," ISITDBT said on its website.

A valued member of Willow Springs Center's professional staff, Fruzzetti serves as clinical consultant to the Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program. In this role, he participates in weekly DBT consultation team meetings, supervises doctoral students treating DBT patients and is a member of the DBT program development team.

Fruzzetti earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Washington and serves as the Director of the Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Research Program at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Current director of research for the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder, Fruzzetti also has been an investigator on numerous DBT studies including those related to the treatment of suicidal adult women and young adults, women victims of domestic violence and families of people with Borderline Personality Disorder.

"We are grateful to Dr. Fruzzetti for his dedication and commitment to Willow Springs Center and his outstanding research helping teens and adults achieve lives worth living," commented Jim Serratt, CEO.

ISITDBT is a volunteer organization with the sole task of organizing an annual conference to bring together DBT clinicians from around the US and the globe.

The ISITDBT conference provides workshops for clinical development of DBT skills and DBT program development, as well as research panels to disseminate information about the ongoing evidence base that underlies DBT.
