Celebrates 30th Year

"Wilderness Treatment Center is ecstatic to announce we have celebrated our 30th year of operation. Wilderness Treatment Center opened its doors in 1983 and has never looked back. John and Nancy Brekke started WTC with the idea of helping a few young men struggling with addiction, and their innovative model has now helped approximately 5,000 young men. John Brekke attributes the treatment center's success to his model, which he calls, "The First and the Finest." Combining a traditional, 30 day, inpatient drug and alcohol treatment with a 16-21 day, Outward Bound style wilderness trip, has been the cornerstone of our success. "I looked at what was working," says Brekke. "We had inpatient treatment centers and we had some wilderness programs, but we didn't have any treatment centers that combined these models." Wilderness Treatment Center has helped approximately 70% of the young men attending the program to achieve long-term drug and alcohol recovery.

Wilderness Treatment Center is a 60-day, licensed, drug and alcohol treatment programs for males ages 14 to 24. We combine a traditional 30 inpatient treatment with a 16-21 day wilderness therapy expedition to help young men break the bondage of addiction.
