West Ridge Academy's 18th annual Scarecrow Festival which was held October 15-18, 2009, was a huge success!
The weather went from terrible to perfect, just in time for the opening day and the crowds came out in huge numbers. In fact, we had about 27,000 people attend the festival over the four days.
What started years ago as a very small fundraiser has grown into a community event. We had TV stations and radio stations show up in force and the coverage was wonderful. It was great during these recessionary times to see people smiling again and having fun.
There were games for all ages, family entertainment, yummy food and a country craft store.
We also had about 500 volunteers show up to help and what a good time we all had working together for a great cause.
