Joining Lon Woodbury today on Parent Choices for Struggling Teens, December 17, 2012, was Tiffany Wright, PhD, aka the LA Skinny Coach, who talked about the growing epidemic of obesity, especially in children. Tiffany, who knows firsthand the struggles of losing 100 pounds and keeping it off over a decade later, firmly believes that parents are 100% responsible for their children's diet and food education. "The parents are the ones who shop for the food, bring the food into the house and influence their kids on what to eat."

Tiffany Wright, has a PhD in Psychology and received her doctorate from the University of California and is the founder of 'elementalyou' a program that offers coaching, structure and education in conjunction with an eating plan and eyou diet, all designed to rewire the brain, stop the binges and cravings and break the obsession of food.

With astounding statistics: 3/5 of obese children will suffer a heart attack before the age of 65- and the obesity affects their health for life, even if they lose the weight later (the damage has already been done to their arteries). Another statistic shows that obesity among teens is at 60% in America- which has more than tripled in the last 30 years. With somewhere between 70-80% of the products sold in stores containing sugar, the number one item for teens and children to stay away from is- soda!

Tiffany shared about sugars, artificial sweeteners, and the signs of how food (sugar) addictions affect the body and how the body processes the different kinds of sugars and fats. After age 40, the body is even slower with processing these things and that is when you start to put on the weight and have a difficult time removing the added pounds.

Natural whole grains, grass fed beef, fruits and vegetables are the top choices for a healthy diet. As you commit to eating healthy and you lose the weight, you feel better, which starts the process of replacing the "sugar fix feelings" with new "feeling good and healthy" feelings, which will put you on the "skinny path for life."
