In an interview with Lon Woodbury, on Janurary 15, 2015, Sean Rose described what it has taken to become an Independent Educational Consultant. Rose opened his practice in the Boston area last November. Although he asserts that there was no course of study to prepare for this specific career of helping parents find the best school or resources to help their at risk youth, his background really helped. Rose has a degree is in Education. He also has direct experience with programs, having worked for 18 years in several residential treatment centers and offering additional services for struggling young people. Over the last six months, Rose shifted from program mentality to that of an Independent Educational Consultant, visiting programs all across the country. Like most IECs, Rose holds the philosophy that he can provide better service when he has personally visited the schools and programs he might recommend to parents.
