ADHD is the second most diagnosed childhood illness today. In the United States people are medicated far more often than in other countries. So, why have the number of children diagnosed with ADHD increased? Why are medications so popular in treating this illness? Are medications the best choice for dealing with ADHD? What do the drug studies point to?
Chileren in other countries are consistently outperforming our kids. How do their education systems differ from ours and why are our children having such a rough time of it in our own school systems? What can we do differently? What can a parent do to help their child or adolescent that is struggling with ADHD?
Dr. Kevin Ross Emery, the author of
Managing the Gift: Alternative Approaches for Attention Deficit Disorder, joins host Lon Woodbury on Monday, May 12, at 12:00 noon, Pacific Time, to discuss Dr. Kevin's new book,
Famous People with ADHD: Are You One Waiting to Happen? The interview will address how famous, highly successful people from all fields, male and female, who fall under this ADD/ADHD "umbrella" have succeeded in life and in their careers without being labeled, disabled or medicated.
Lon and Dr. Kevin will also take a look at how we see these kids, how we treat them, and how to get these kids to see themselves... determining whether they will end up on the "famous side" or the "failure side" of the ADD/ADHD gift.
Please join us on Monday, May 12, 2014 to hear the newest information Dr. Kevin has on the gift of ADD/ADHD on
Latalkradio.com "Parent Choices for Struggling Teens" at 12:00pm, Pacific Time.
