"The Road Home: A Guide for Parents with Teens or Young Adults Returning from Treatment"
Monday April 7, 2014- 12:00 Noon- PST
April 4, 2014
What can parents realistically expect to happen when their teen or young adult returns home? And what can parent's do- to better ensure that their child holds onto the gains they made in treatment, whether it was wilderness, inpatient or therapeutic boarding schools? How can families create emotional safety at home in order to have continual healthy dialogue for ongoing growth and healing?
Ruben Jimenez, the author of "The Road Home:" helps families navigate transitions form treatment to home. He also leads retreats for young adults with "failure to launch" issues and hopes to write a book on this subject as well. Rueben, who wrote this book to help families navigate the complexities and nuances of a child returning home from treatment, also teaches a specific parent centric model in his book t6hat parents can use to offer structure and support necessary for a successful transition. Rueben will join host- Lon Woodbury- next Monday, April 7, 2014 on "Parent Choices for Struggling Teens" on LATALKRadio.com- channel one at 12:00 noon- Pacific Time.
Lon and Rueben will discuss the book, what led Rueben to write it and some strategies he has for helping families create emotional safety at home in order to have continual healthy dialogue for ongoing growth and healing.
Please join us Monday- April 7, 2014 to hear about a process Rueben has created for parents to sort out their values and vision for their family, which Rueben explains is the "bedrock" of his book.
