As an enticement for those of you looking forward to the 4th Annual Northwest Get Together, scheduled for May 15, 2009 at The Naples Inn, Naples, Idaho, we wanted to share with you just one of the fascinating topics that will be shared in the afternoon of this event.
Randy Russell, owner of SouLore and InnerPathworks located in Sagle, ID has a rich background in Native American training, having been taught by grandparents with Choctaw and Cherokee roots. From early childhood Randy was encouraged to become one with nature, to wonder and explore, with "medicine ways and native values" passed on to him.
Ramon Palacios, owner and counselor of HeartCry Recovery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and comes from Native American lineage and training.
Together, they will be sharing from their rich experiences, which principles and skills are appropriate and not appropriate for non tribal members to use in their programs. In their session: "Should Programs Be Using Native American Ways?" you will learn what the natives taught that still applies to the 21st Century. They will be using drumming/story/experiential as the Native style of presenting. In addition, Randy and Ramon will share questions on topics such as:
Recent studies have confirmed the importance of being in nature with healthy human development. Which nature skills need to be passed forward?
How do hunter gatherer skills prepare someone to live in the concrete jungle of the 21st Century?
Should programs be using Native American rituals and ceremonies?
What do Cultural Creative's have in common with Native American warriors and shaman?
Randy and Ramon will share the answers to these and more in a mostly Native American style.
Please mark your calendars for this event…..
Registration is still available!
We look forward to seeing you there.
