Joshua Cluff, PsyD, from ClearView Psychological Services, John Karren, Admissions Director for Elements Wilderness, and Jason York, Educational Consultant from Texas stopped by for a visit on a recent trip through northern Idaho/ western Montana.
Dr. Joshua Cluff is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Utah. He received his Bachelors degree from The Evergreen State College with an emphasis on Trauma Studies and Multicultural Counseling. He subsequently obtained his Master’s and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University. Dr. Cluff has worked with a wide range of populations, including adolescent victims of sexual/emotional abuse, elementary-aged inner-city youth, at-risk adolescents and their families, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered youth and adults, adult perpetrators with developmental disorders, adults in a community mental health setting, and university-aged students, faculty, and their families.
John Karren has been serving families in wilderness therapy programs for over a decade. Prior to founding Elements, John had extensive experience as both an admissions counselor and an admissions director. Elements is a small, highly-specialized program designed to serve as a short-term, high-impact, affordable first step in the treatment process for young men. They work with young men, aged 13 – 17 who are struggling emotionally, behaviorally and/or relationally. Students may be angry, depressed, withdrawn or involved in substance abuse, and many take little or no responsibility for their actions.
Jason York is an Educational Consultant who specializes in serving families of students with special emotional, behavioral and academic needs. For seven years, Jason has supported parents and their child in finding hte best solution by provideing insight, planning, support and understanding of academic and therapeutic options. He provides placement services for families of pre-teens, adolescents 13-17 years old and young adults over 18 years old. Prior to working as an Educational Consultant, Jason worked in admissions for Second Nature Wilderness.
