TreeHouse are pleased to announce our first international summer course for college students in recovery.

The TreeHouse Learning Community, Prescott College, and the Pureland Project (out of Penn State University) are offering a rare opportunity for 16 students to travel and study among the nomads of Eastern Tibet.

The course, Nomads of Tibet: Culture, Ecology and Sustainability of Traditional Lifestyles in Transition, will be led by Molly McGinn, PhD, Margaret Ferringo, MA, and Christopher McLaughlin, all of whom have extensive experience in China and Tibet. Students will earn 4 units of college credit through independent study at Prescott College as they focus on one of the following areas: Education, Environmental Sustainability, or Digital Story Telling. While staying in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, the group will exchange skills with nomad children, teachers, and families. The expedition will run from July 6 to Aug 3.

Due to the extraordinary nature of this course students will be asked to participate in an interview following submission of their online application. The cost is $4,200 plus airfare.

We are excited to be taking students to Asia. We expect that this will be the beginning of many summers in the mountains of Eastern Tibet spent working on sustainability projects, education, language learning, and digital storytelling.
