Trails Carolina is excited to welcome Carla Shorts, MS, LPC/I, NCC to our expanding clinical team. Utilizing our unique approach to wilderness therapy, Carla will lead Trails Carolina's "Journeys" group for 10-13 year old students.
Carla is from Clemson, South Carolina where she grew up playing in the local lake and rivers. Prior to joining the therapeutic team at Trails, she worked in variety of clinical settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practice and most recently a therapeutic boarding school for young adolescent males. While at Johns Hopkins, Carla trained extensively in emotional and psychiatric evaluation and diagnostics. As a therapist, Carla believes that in order for adolescents to grow and make positive changes they need unconditional positive regard. With warmth, humor and enthusiasm, Carla seeks to provide an environment where her clients feel safe and supported. In her free time, Carla enjoys running, cheering on the Baltimore Orioles, and attending Clemson basketball games with her family.
