The Threshold Program At Lesley University
The Threshold Program is a comprehensive, non-degree, campus-based program for highly motivated young adults with learning disabilities and other special needs.
The students at Threshold are high school graduates who are likely to have considerable difficulty succeeding in a traditional university degree program and who are interested in one of the offered vocational fields of study: Business Services, Early Childhood Studies, and Human Services.
This two-year program accommodates 50 students a year. Most participants generally attain scores below average range on specific standardized tests of intellectual ability, with fourth to seventh grade level reading and writing skills and somewhat lower levels of math skill. With two successful years on campus, students receive a certificate of completion and six University credits. Most students then participate in one of Threshold’s two post-graduate programs, Transition Year, or Bridge, both of which provide continued support and award a certificate and an additional three university credits.
