Three Points Center, LLC announces that its new Residential Treatment Center for Adopted Adolescents in La Verkin, Utah is now licensed and accepting students. To complement the programs at the residential facility, Three Points Center Ranch is also now open to support the holistic approach of Three Point Center's treatment program. The Ranch, home to animals used in the program like horses, goats, chickens and pigs, is intended to serve as a healing, therapeutic retreat for the students during their stay.

The residential treatment facility will accommodate up to 40 male and 40 female students and is set up to support the center's unique, comprehensive 360 degree approach to treatment for adopted adolescents and their families.

According to Dr. David Brodzinsky,"To meet the needs of adopted youth and their families, therapists must to be adoption-competent. They must understand the complexities associated with adoptive family life, integrate these issues into their assessment process, and develop treatment strategies that are informed by adoption related experiences. Unfortunately, adoptive families often find that the professionals with whom they work are not adoption clinically competent, and, consequently, feel poorly served by these individuals. With its "adoption-centric" perspective, Three Points Center offers families a unique resource for serving the mental health and educational needs of adoptive youth."

Dr. Brodzinsky is Professor Emeritus of clinical and developmental psychology at Rutgers University. He was the founding Director and is the current Lead Researcher for the Donaldson Adoption Institute.

Dr Joyce Maguire Pavao, the CEO of PACT (Pre-/Post-Adoption Consulting and Training) and Lecturer in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School added "There are few, if any, places that have the expertise to work with adopted teens and young adults, as they are challenged with extensive identity issues and a past that includes issues of trust and trauma - Dr. Thibault has this expertise, and his Three Points Center will provide a unique and much-needed space in which to address these challenges and to support these young people."

Recently Dr. Lois Ruskai Melina, former editor of Adopted Child newsletter and the author of the books Raising Adopted Children, Making Sense of Adoption and the co-author of The Open Adoption Experience, commented:

"Three Points Center provides something long overdue-a residential treatment center with therapists knowledgeable about the unique and complex issues around adopted adolescents and their families. With the understanding that sending an adopted teen to residential treatment is a last resort for their parents, Norm Thibault and Thane Palmer have designed a program that is focused on honoring, maintaining, and enhancing family relationships."

Three Points Center is founded upon the belief that special situations deserve a specialized approach. Current studies indicate that 30 to 40% of the clients at adolescent residential treatment centers are adopted. However, when problems would arise with adopted adolescents that could no longer be dealt with at home, the only option these families had was a non-specialized "cookie cutter" approach at facilities geared to the general youth population. Despite numerous residential treatment centers for youth nationwide, not one has been designed and created specifically for helping adopted youth and their families…..until now.

This facility and program is taking inquiries for acceptance into the program. If you would like to find out more about the program please contact Three Points Center at 435.632.7767 or by email at info@threepointscenter.com.
