The Forman School has appointed Helen Waldron, of Torrington, as Assistant Head of School, succeeding Eric Ahner, on July 1, 2009. Waldron has served in several positions at Forman since 1989, including Dean of Academic Affairs since 1999.
Waldron received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, CT and received her Master's Degree in Special Education at the University of Hartford, Hartford, CT. In April 2008, she became a program facilitator for All Kinds of Minds, in Chapel Hill, NC, a non-profit, charitable institute designed to help students with learning differences by providing programs that integrate educational, scientific, and clinical expertise.
Positions Helen has held at The Forman School, include learning center teacher, tutor, coach and coordinator of community services and summer school teacher. She also served as director of admissions from 1995-1999.
"The entire Forman community is thrilled with the appointment of Helen Waldron," said Head of School Adam K. Man. "Helen brings a long-term commitment to our mission, as well as tremendous experience and energy to the position of Assistant Head of School. Her new role will certainly benefit our efforts to make Forman an even stronger institution."
Eric Ahner will be taking the position of Executive Director at the Aldo Leopold High School in Silver City, New Mexico. Since its founding in 1930, the Forman School has served to educate students with learning differences such as dyslexia and attention deficit disorder.
