Talisman Programs is proud to announce Jonathan Bassett as the Program Director for Talisman Transitions a residential program for young adults, 18-24 with Asperger's Syndrome, NLD, and other Autism Spectrum Disorders. Talisman Transitions provides young adults with a unique opportunity to develop academic and vocational skills while receiving support with social skills development and independent living.
Jonathan received his B.A in Psychology from Indiana University in 2002. His professional journey after graduation led him to work with Talisman Programs in 2005 as a summer camp counselor and continued for two additional summers as a program manager. During the school year, Jonathan worked with the Autism Society of North Carolina as well as Stone Mountain School, a long-term residential school in an outdoors environment that is geared to help families of boys with emotional issues or behavioral problems. Then in 2007, Jonathan moved on to design and lead the creation of Southeast Journeys at Talisman Programs, which is now known as Talisman Academy. Returning to graduate school at Appalachian State University in 2008, he has been pursuing a degree in Professional School Counseling and is anticipating graduation May 2011. While in school, he worked with Mentor Behavioral Health Care managing a caseload of youth with Asperger's Syndrome. Jonathan has also recently taken on the role of presenter, giving presentations and trainings on various topics surrounding Asperger's Syndrome at community and professional venues including both the North Carolina Professional School Counselor Association and North Carolina Counselor Association.
We are excited for the knowledge and experience he is bringing to the development and running of Talisman Academy's Transitions program. If you have, any questions for him please feel free to contact him at jbassett@talismanacademy.com.
