Talisman Programs, provider of alternative summer camp for 35 years, is excited to announce the launch of Talisman Semesters, a residential, academic and experiential program for teen boys ages 12-17 with ADHD, autism, or other learning disorders. This developmental school helps teens with academic re-engagement, social skill development and independence in an environment where they are accepted, understood and encouraged.

Students at Talisman Semesters are often disengaged from school and struggling to make or keep friends. The typical Talisman student is easily frustrated and struggles with transitions, sensory overload, and social interactions. Talisman Semesters provides students with an environment where they can reconnect, rebuild confidence, and develop the academic and social skills they need to achieve their potential.

To help students develop age-appropriate independent living skills, daily self-management routines are taught. Formal social skills sessions are mixed with daily practice and mentoring so students can practice immediately what they are learning.

Academics are provided through an experiential curriculum and individualized instruction, engaging students by teaching to their learning styles and their level, and connecting their lessons to the real world. Each semester, students take two week-long learning expeditions.

The leadership of Semesters includes Linda Tatsapaugh, director; John Bates, program director; Dave Rollins, academic director; and Robiyn Mims, admissions director.

Starting on August 31st, 2015, Talisman Semesters will open its doors to teen boys with ADHD and Autism. Talisman Semester admits teen boys with Autism Level 1, Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, and learning disorders. Enrollment is limited. Students are encouraged to enroll for two semesters.

Talisman Semesters, located just outside of beautiful Asheville, NC, is a residential autism school for teen boys ages 12-17. Talisman Semesters is owned and operated by Talisman Programs, which also owns and operates Talisman Summer Camp. For more information, please call 844-478-6414.
