Sweetwater Internships is for males ages 18-26 years old. The clients have average to above average intelligence and learn better in a non-traditional academic environment. The program provides structure which also helps the client to perform better and works on family relationships.

The program was founded by Travis Madsen who has over twenty one years working with youth in several different treatment modalities. The Sweetwater team includes an educational specialist, a business consultant, and a college life mentor. The team uses testing, questionnaires and data compiled from personal interviews and staff feedback to create a life plan called"Blueprint for Life" highlighting social, emotional, physical, and academic priorities.

Sweetwater Internships helps young men gain independence, responsibility, strengthen their employment opportunities and enhance entrepreneurial skills. The purpose of the program is to improve self-awareness, increase knowledge, build or renew identity, develop strengths and talents, identify potential, build employability, enhance the quality of life, fulfill aspirations, execute personal development plans. There are 12 structured modules that the young men work thru each lasting one month.

Sweetwater offers a broad range of educational resources for interns who want to enhance their educational pursuits, or make up for previous deficits. Once an intern makes a decision to pursue further education they are provided with a college transition mentor to assist them in finding housing, employment, course selection, and entertainment options. The mentor meets on a weekly basis to monitor academic progress, coach in personal concerns, and assist in independent living skills.
