We are pleased to announce the opening of Surf House Puerto Rico on September 2, 2013. Surf House is a holistic community for young people ages 17.5 to 25 seeking a gap year experience to help them improve their college and career readiness. Utilizing a life coaching approach to foster resilience and life goal orientation, Surf House integrates a rich international experience and individualized educational services with a wellness-focused lifestyle. The tropical setting, with all the outdoor resources Puerto Rico has to offer, serves as an exciting, experiential classroom for marine/tropical sciences, cultural studies, and water sports such as surfing, paddle-boarding and scuba diving.
Located on the West Coast of Puerto Rico in the town of Rincon, Surf House is perfectly situated to take advantage of the area's cultural diversity and educational resources, including the University of Puerto Rico. An experienced and talented staff facilitates life skills instruction, distance education at both the high school and college level, and experiential personal growth opportunities. While the Surf House experience is not a treatment program, a strong emphasis is placed on personal responsibility, social maturity, life skills competencies, and family support in preparation for the future.
Surf House enrolls both young men and young women. Traveling to Puerto Rico is as easy as traveling between any two cities in the United States. As Puerto Rico is a territory of the U.S., passports or visas are not necessary for United States citizens. For full program information please visit our website at
