Each year the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, Montana, hosts an exhibit entitled "New Artists" featuring selected two and three dimensional art pieces from area high school students. This year's spring 2009 month-long exhibit kicked off with a community open house where the public was invited to vote for best of show.

Six students from Summit Prep were selected to display a piece of art from their portfolios. Our students' art work demonstrated their unique individual style and interpretation across various mediums, including oil and acrylic paintings, wire sculpture, and plaster casting. Also on display was a short narrative by each student about their piece and about their personal reflections on art.

One of Summit Prep's students wrote "Art in my life is just something I do to relax my mind after hard thinking or frustration. It's something I use to self soothe. I plan on using art in my future as a combination of all the things I like, chemistry, math, and literature, into a new model of my art."
