It is with heavy hearts that we must share the news of Adam Tsapis' untimely passing on Monday, February 16, 2015, due to a kite-skiing accident near his home in Harrison, Maine.

Founding Partner of Summit Achievement, Adam was known not only for his passion for helping kids and families, but also for his infectious grin, raucous laughter, quick mind, sharp wit, entrepreneurial spirit, and encyclopedic knowledge of both the relevant and the arcane. Blessed with the gift of gab, Adam was a people person to his core, having never met a stranger, but having made many friends along his many paths.

Raised in New York and educated (in more ways than one) in Berkeley, CA., Adam was above all a student of life. Neither Adam's mind, nor body, were ever very still, and he filled his days with family, friends, and adventures, great and small. First and foremost a devoted husband and loving father of four, Adam was also a former Captain of a Tall Ship, an accomplished hockey player, Founding Partner at a ground-breaking wilderness program, sailor and delivery captain, skier, hockey player, snowboarder, and windsurfer, just to name a few. Although he often quipped that his favorite job at Summit Achievement was being the owner who got to mow the lawn, the fact is that Adam's influences can be found in nearly every aspect of the program he co-founded, where he dedicated almost 20 years to helping kids and families through what were often the most trying times of their lives.

In this trying time, as we turn to each other to share memories of Adam, and look to each other for support, guidance, and understanding, we ask, too, that you keep Adam's family in your thoughts. Please understand that our current efforts are in serving the students of Summit Achievement, in supporting each other, and supporting Adam's family. A fund will be set up in the near future in Adam's memory. For questions please contact Will White at will@summitachievement.com
