Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Summit Achievement and Summit Traverse are proud to welcome two outstanding additions to our Academic Team: Academic Director and Teacher, Bonnie Richardson and Special Education Coordinator and Teacher, Tyler Winsor.
Having a Certified Special Educator as part of the Summit Achievement and Traverse treatment teams will significantly enhance student support, advocacy, and individualization. Critical assessment work culminates with the creation of an Educational Summary for each student, composed by the Academic Team including the Special Education Coordinator.
Summit Achievement is the premier choice for a therapeutic wilderness experience during the school year.
For 18 years Summit Achievement has provided the unique opportunity for students to participate in intensive individual and family therapy, weekly wilderness expeditions, and individualized structured academic programming in a classroom setting, while receiving credit.
We are excited to have Bonnie and Tyler join the Summit team!
Bonnie Richardson, MA, Academic Director, earned her graduate degree in Critical & Cultural Theory from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor's Degree in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Central Florida. She has spent the last eight years working in education as an International Education Advisor and as an Assistant Director of International Education at schools in Florida and Ohio, advising students in international education, education abroad program management, curriculum development, institutional relationship management, student recruitment, and safety and risk management. Additionally she has worked as a Wilderness Medicine Instructor and a Program Assistant for an Adaptive Sports Program. Bonnie has always been drawn to building relationships with diverse groups of students and teachers, encouraging them to push themselves beyond traditional boundaries to reach their full potential. Bonnie enjoys paddling, traveling around the world, and working on summiting the forty-eight 4,000 foot summits in the White Mountains.
Tyler Winsor, MEd, Special Education Coordinator, earned a Masters of Special Education from the University of New Hampshire, a Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from the University of Vermont, and is certified as a Special Education Teacher. For the past five years Tyler has been using experiential and inclusive educational techniques to help students reach their unique academic and personal goals. In a variety of public and private school settings including Parker Academy and Landmark College, Tyler has worked with students to help discover their learning styles and with teachers to diversify lesson plans. Tyler has traveled extensively in Central America and enjoys speaking Spanish, snowboarding and spending time in nature wherever he may be.
Please contact Admissions Director Shannon Higgins for more information about Summit Achievement and Summit Traverse.
