Summit Achievement welcomes Shannon Higgins to our team as Admissions Director. Shannon brings an extensive background of over 15 years working with adolescents, young adults, and their families in a variety of settings including adventure guiding, wilderness therapy and therapeutic boarding. For the last 7 years Shannon has proudly served in the role of admissions for both therapeutic boarding and residential treatment.

Shannon was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from Appalachian State University. After spending her earlier years in the mountains guiding families on rafting and caving trips she began working for SUWS of the Carolinas, a therapeutic wilderness program. Here she came to love the use of adventure and wilderness as part of a therapeutic process. She later went on to work as a Supervisor at Stone Mountain School, a therapeutic boarding school for boys. In 2007 Shannon joined the admissions team at Stone Mountain, and found her true calling when she stepped into the role of Admissions Director in 2009. She later went on to further her admissions experience by working in the capacity of outreach and admissions support for Fulshear Treatment to Transition, a residential treatment and transition program for young women.

Shannon brings great passion and enthusiasm to her work in admissions, and her compassion for families is her driving force. With her love of the outdoors, her love and knowledge of the therapeutic field, and her energetic and compassionate nature, Summit Achievement was a natural fit. As Shannon put it, "I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to represent such an amazing longstanding program, and to be able to help guide families to this life changing opportunity."

We feel confident that our families and referral partners will greatly benefit from Shannon's guidance and care throughout the admissions process. We are excited to have her on our team!

Shannon can be reached at shannon@summitachievement.com or at 207-256-2093.
