Summit Achievement welcomes Patricia "Trish" Ruggles, LCPC, to our clinical team. Patricia brings an impressive background of eleven years as a counselor and psychotherapist in various wilderness/adventure therapy programs.
Patricia, who was born and raised in Maine, earned a B.S. degree in Psychology from Trinity College and a M.A. degree in Counseling from Lewis and Clark College. She is licensed by the State of Maine as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and is in the process for Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Patricia's first introduction to wilderness therapy was as Wilderness Emotional Growth Counselor at New Horizons for Young Women. That positive experience inspired her to pursue her graduate education in counseling. After achieving her advanced degree Patricia served first as Primary Therapist at Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Expeditions and later as Primary Therapist at Adirondack Leadership Expeditions.
Patricia has provided psychotherapy to adolescents and their families, along with supervising and training staff and consulting with classroom teachers and referring professionals. She has developed and implemented treatment goals and interventions for clients with a variety of diagnoses including substance abuse/dependency, opposition defiance, mood and anxiety disorders, traits of personality disorders, and complex family issues.
