Stone Mountain School, a therapeutic boarding school for boys ages 11-17 with learning differences, non-verbal learning disorder (NLD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), is proud to announce the addition of two new therapists, Gretchen Brown, MS, P-LCSW, and Sally Jenkins, MS, LCAS. Gretchen was previously the Field Supervisor for SUWS of the Carolinas, and Sally was Clinical Director for Phoenix Outdoor.
Prior to joining Stone Mountain, Gretchen Brown worked as a therapist for at-risk adolescents in a wilderness treatment setting. Her graduate-level clinical work includes supporting child and adolescent survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and providing therapy and support in a community mental health setting. She is a Provisionally Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working with youth in a variety of residential, wilderness and community settings. Gretchen has a Master's of Science Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an emphasis in Child and Adolescent Health and Mental Health.
"I look forward to working with Stone Mountain's population of adolescents who have lots of energy," says Gretchen. "I plan to utilize individualized and creative interventions to best serve each student and support them in reaching their fullest potential."
Sally Jenkins has worked in the substance abuse field for over 20 years. She has provided direct client care in various therapeutic settings, residential, intensive outpatient, outpatient, dual diagnosis, adolescent psychiatric unit and private practice. Sally has written curriculums for several programs and plans to create a specific, individualized curriculum for students at Stone Mountain School. She is a master's level clinician and is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist.
"Drawing on my passion for working with youth and families and my own experience with recovery, I look forward to conducting prevention groups for Stone Mountain students who may have only experimented or not yet tried alcohol or substances," says Sally. "The groups will learn from the best practices of traditional adolescent substance abuse treatment, adventure-wilderness experiences, and a step-based recovery model to encourage them to live their lives free from substances."
