Stetson School is pleased to announce the implementation of our new Behavioral Disorder Track. In addition to the specialized treatment we provide for youth with sexual behavior problems, Stetson School is now providing treatment for adolescent males, 13-17 years old, with cognitive capacities ranging from a full scale IQ of 70 and higher, with non-sexual conduct disorders and behavioral problems.
Our treatment of behavioral disordered youth follows the same model that we effectively provide for students in our Problem Sexual Behavior Track, and maintains the same high levels of care, experience, and skill historically provided.
We recognize and treat our students as "whole" people who's troubled behaviors are one part of a much larger complex of emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and social problems, many of which are the outgrowth of earlier adverse childhood experiences and attachment difficulties. Accordingly, treatment for behavioral problems at Stetson School is embedded within a treatment program, environment, and approach that is rehabilitative in nature, and incorporated into The Stetson School ACORN model of treatment and rehabilitation. The ACORN model is aimed at changing behavior and relationships by rehabilitating ideas, attitudes, and beliefs about the world, and through the development of a stronger sense of self-confidence, confidence in others, and a confident sense of social belonging and relatedness.
The Behavioral Disorder Treatment Track and the Problem Sexual Behavior Treatment Track operate independently of one another, with treatment provided by separate and independent treatment teams. Students reside in separate treatment units and integrated during the school day in our on-campus educational program. Stetson School maintains the belief that a safe milieu is the critical foundation upon which students can engage in treatment, and work towards developing a pro-social lifestyle. Safety in the Stetson School milieu is anchored by primary concepts and approaches such as proactive interventions, clearly defined structure, and constant supervision.
The Stetson School offers a specialized treatment program for children and youth with sexual behavior problems. Please feel free to call on our Admissions Office 978-355-4541, ext. 104 with questions or to screen a referral over the phone. Keep in mind that we conduct pre-admissions interviews at the location of your choice and are always available to transport your client to Stetson on admission day.
