Spring Ridge Academy is pleased to announce two new members of the clinical team. Susanne Costello from Denver, CO, and Cindy Fogel, formerly a therapist from Second Nature Cascades in Oregon.

Susanne comes from family systems and cognitive behavioral theoretical perspectives and has clinical expertise in addressing issues of neglect, abuse, trauma, bullying, drugs/alcohol, sexual perpetration, domestic violence, victim pathology and mental health disorders. Her experience lends to working in school systems, crisis intervention call centers, on site at crime scenes with police to provide crisis intervention, in-home therapy, detoxification facilities, mental health hospitals, private agencies and always as part of a greater multidisciplinary team.

Over the past 14 years Susanne's passion and expertise have led to working with adolescents, women, families and children. She earned her Master's Degree in Education with a focus on Clinical Counseling from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Susanne incorporates an eclectic therapeutic approach to treatment and has specialty training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, trauma and vicarious trauma, suicide ideation and intervention, domestic violence, substance abuse and critical incident response training to crisis and trauma.

Having recently relocated from Denver, CO, Susanne is in the process of pursuing her Arizona LPC. She prides herself on developing trust and rapport with her clients to provide a safe therapeutic setting for healing to begin.

Cindy has worked therapeutically with adolescents and their families since 1/91. She has attended numerous trainings, workshops and conferences on mental health issues, substance abuse and effective therapeutic work with adolescents and families. Cindy has extensive experience working with clients with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, adoption, Non-verbal Learning Disability, Depression, Anxiety, anger management problems, substance abuse issues, sexual acting out, learning challenges, school failure/withdrawal, personality disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, victims of physical and sexual abuse, grief and loss issues and issues related to self-image and self-identity.

Originally from Minnesota, Cindy received her BA in 1984 from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, MN in Speech Communications and Business. She went on to own and manage a successful chiropractic business in Prescott, AZ. She attended the charter class of the Master's program at Prescott College, Prescott, AZ. Cindy graduated with her Masters in Counseling Psychology in August 1993. She then worked with Social Services and was a supervisor of a Social Service agency. She worked as a wilderness therapist for 12 years before joining the team at Spring Ridge Academy.

Her multi-modal approach to therapy helps students take accountability for their actions and attitudes. They learn to take responsibility for the effect that these actions and attitudes have had on their life and the lives of others. Cindy supports students in creating realistic treatment goals and the development of strengths and skills that can enhance self-esteem and confidence.

Cindy loves to spend time with her family connecting with the natural world. She is active in hiking, biking, boating, and yoga.

Please help us welcome both Susanne and Cindy to our clinical team.
