In the therapeutic world today there seems to be an overwhelming amount of information for families to process. When the search for treatment begins, parents can see a limitless number of therapeutic programs to choose from. Most programs they see will work with children and young adults to help them facilitate ground breaking changes within themselves. There is no doubt that therapeutic treatment programs working with children are changing lives. However, as we all know to well, these changes are extremely difficult to maintain after transitioning back into the family.
All too often, kids graduate from wilderness, get home and slowly fall into the same patterns and routines. After a child successfully completes a program, parents are given coaching tips and a wealth of information for a healthy transition back into the mainstream. While this information can be transformative, parents often find it difficult to successfully implement. It is extremely easy to return to the old way of parenting. How can we help catch these families so they don’t fall through the cracks?
