Solstice RTC is wholly committed to the continued success of our students. That is why we are very pleased to announce the appointments of two new leaders for our specialized Journey Home program.

Journey Home is a community-based step-down program focused on the five core principles of adolescent and young adult development: healthy living, education, life skills, personal responsibility, and social integration.

The program will now be led by Deann Armes, Program Director, with Lanae Kimber, dedicated therapist.

Deann has worked with adolescent girls in treatment centers for 10 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, and is currently in pursuit of a graduate degree in clinical counseling psychology to become a licensed therapist.

"After a ten year hiatus to raise my own four children, I am very happy to be back doing this work that I love," said Deann. "Helping teenage girls on their healing journeys back to wholeness is a long-held passion of mine, and I'm thrilled to be working with such a great team of professionals in this wonderful program."

Lanae received bachelor's degrees from the University of Utah in psychology and interpersonal communication. She later went on to receive her master's degree in mental health counseling from the University of Phoenix. After several years of counseling those with substance abuse issues, marital issues, anxiety, depression and a variety of other mental health issues, Lanae realized her passion was working with adolescents and their families.

Lanae has worked in residential treatment centers for years and was most recently the director of a therapeutic program for adolescent girls. She has worked with adolescents and their families with a variety of challenges including autism spectrum disorders, nonverbal learning disabilities, emotional dysregulation, ADHD, ODD, reactive attachment disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and anger issues.

"I have always enjoyed helping others and am so pleased to work with Solstice," said Lanae. "I believe it is essential to work with both the family and the adolescent throughout treatment, continuing through the transition into their next phase of life, whether it be back home or living independently."

Solstice RTC's Journey Home provides an ideal transition setting in an environment that is drug-free, alcohol-free, tobacco-free, and includes random drug and nicotine testing. Located in a close-knit cul-de-sac neighborhood, Journey Home is administered with a conservative style of parenting, with regular individual, family and group therapy sessions, and allows for attendance at public or private high school, community college or university. We encourage part-time employment and/or service opportunities and provide regular physical fitness and recreational activities. We teach self-sufficiency through meal preparation, grocery shopping, budgeting, and more.

The Journey Home community-based living program is open to all qualified female teens and young adults who have graduated from an RTC or therapeutic boarding school.
Located in Layton, Utah, Solstice RTC places strong emphasis on family therapy based intervention, nutrition and physical fitness, and the supportive provision of cutting edge academics, substance abuse/addiction therapy, equine therapy, and psychiatric services. Solstice specializes in providing gender-specific treatment for female adolescents who struggle with a variety of presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma and loss, and adoption and attachment issues.
