Solstice RTC Welcomes New Psychiatrist, Dr. Kirk Simon

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kirk Simon has joined our team. Dr. Simon is now a psychiatrist for Solstice Residential Treatment Center, a clinically sophisticated, licensed and accredited treatment program for adolescent girls ages 14-18.

Dr. Simon has been working with youth and families for over 20 years. He is a triple board certified psychiatrist in the areas of pediatrics, child/adolescent and adult psychiatry. He completed his undergraduate degree at Creighton University, then attended the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Utah. In 2003, Dr. Simon was a nominee for physician of the year at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. In 2005 and 2012, he was awarded teacher of the year by the triple board and child psychiatry residents at the University of Utah.

"I am excited to work with the Solstice staff in supporting youth and their families during these healing times of change," said Dr. Simon.

Dr. Simon approaches students in a holistic, strength-based manner to foster greater resiliency. He has presented on topics including eating disorders, somatization disorders and difficult diagnoses in patients and families.

Solstice RTC places strong emphasis on family therapy based intervention, nutrition and physical fitness, and the supportive provision of cutting edge academics, substance abuse/addiction therapy, equine therapy, and psychiatric services. Solstice specializes in providing gender-specific treatment for female adolescents who struggle with a variety of presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma and loss, and adoption and attachment issues.
