March 12, 2008

Sober College had its first talent show on March 1, 2008. The show, led by James F. and Sarah V., was inspired by sober college students, staff and alumni who displayed an array of talents that left the audience bursting out of their chairs for more.

Keeping feet tapping and heads bopping, Cole rocked the house by drumming his beats throughout the show. Making eyes jump with every beat, dancers decked out with masks and hoodies got down hip-hop style. Thomas and Chaz busted their rhyme, pumping the heart of the room with electricity. The drama team did an uproarious impersonation of our stellar staff: Nazanin, Rick, Brian, Rob, Melissa, and Pat. David and Rick both owned the stage with musical inspiration that blew the top off. Fusing audience and talent to raise their voices in unity to the occasion, Colin brought spirit into the house with a heartwarming version of Elton John's, Rocket Man.

Surrounded by music, drama and laughter, the room was filled with appreciation for what the collective creativity of Sober College can do for the soul. Other than the Sober College staff and residents, guests of the house included visitors from Sober Souls and participants of the March Family Weekend Program. But whether a part of the show or a loyal observer, there is no doubt that all in attendance left the evening moved to proud elation in honor of being part of Sober College's "School of Rock!"
