Sober College announces the exciting news that former student Chance W., opened a paintball retail store earlier this year. Following in the footsteps of other Sober College student-turned-entrepreneurs, Chance made the decision to turn his passion into his profession.

"Be open to the advice that mentors give you, and always try to enjoy what you are doing with your life," states former Sober College student Chance W., proud owner of Maelstrom Paintball.
"When I left Sober College I knew it was time to take the tools I had learned and apply them to my life. I was open-minded about different career options and felt so much passion for paintball that I decided to make a career out of it. I got my company name reserved, obtained a tax identification number and with a little help from my mother, I got things going. My Uncle owns his own business so I asked him questions and reached out for assistance," stated Chance.

"My parents knew I was serious when I told them I wasn't ready to come home after 3 months of rehab at Sober College. It was over the additional five months that I gained the trust of my family members and truly learned what it takes to be both happy and sober. Because of Sober College's family program, I learned how to salvage any damage I had done to those around me and as a result I have a whole network of people that believe in me and what I am doing. I know that every morning when I wake up I am excited about my life and that is a true blessing."

When asked what keeps Chance positive and strong in his sobriety today he replied, "Today I am active in a twelve step program, particularly with the younger meetings, and I work with a sponsor and counselor. I also keep in touch with Sober College staff and the other kids I got sober with. It is hard to transition back into home life after you have been in drug and alcohol treatment, but Sober College taught me what it takes to beat the odds and claim victory over my disease. The best part about Sober College is that I didn't have to give up a passion of mine because I was in rehab. I knew early on that I wanted to somehow make paintball into a profession and I did it!"

"I couldn't be happier for Chance," exclaimed Loree Cohen, Executive Director of Sober College. "It takes a young adult like Chance to show our students that anything is possible if you are willing to make a few changes. Through the process of attraction, we have already seen others follow in Chance's footsteps and that is the real beauty of our program. Most of our students decide within a short time that they want a future just like Chance, and are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals."
